Chewy Wheaties Cookies

Posted by Tara

Have you ever had a plate of cookies given to you as a random act of kindness? I have... and it was these cookies! Our good family friends the Carmichael's gave us a plate of cookies a year ago and they were something I had never tasted before! They were chewy and soft and ohhhh soooo yummy. At first I thought they were an oatmeal cookie. After asking for the recipe, I found out there was NO oatmeal in the recipe. It was Wheaties cereal! Crazy, right? I instantly loved them! The cereal and coconut add chewiness and "awesomeness" to these cookies. (That is a word right? lol)

Here is what you'll need:
Flour
Sugar
Brown Sugar
Eggs
Vanilla
Baking Soda
Baking powder
Butter
Wheaties Cereal
Coconut

This recipe is like your basic chocolate chip cookie recipe. When making it, it's the same steps. You could even add in some chocolate chips if you wanted. My husband thinks white chocolate chips would pair well with these cookies.

There is less flour in these cookies, so don't freak out when you pull them out of the oven and they are flatter than your other cookies. They are supposed to be that way. That's what makes them chewy!

Carmichael Family Recipe

1 c. Margarine
1 c. Brown Sugar
1 c. Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 tsp Vanilla

2 c. Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt

2 c. Wheaties

  • Add eggs and vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
  • Add to butter mixture and mix well.
  • Mix in remaining ingredients (cereal, coconut).
  • Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes
